New for 2025! The Baby Buzzbait

The Baby Buzzbait lure by Lee Bailey Jr is back! Lee was the legendary designer of the Cavitron buzzbait and now he's released the most compact buzzbait on the market. This bait is nicknamed the "vegetation tamer." You can fish this bait through thick cover where other buzzbaits have trouble going--and it squeaks right out the pack!

Often times, it's the small design aspects that make a bait special--and this buzzer has several! Lee started out by building this buzzer with a thin wire and then made two wire important wire adjustments. One being the "Oxbow Bend" taken from Lee Bailey‘s original Cavitron Buzz bait design. This bend is a pre-engineered modification, allowing the bait to ride deeper in the water resulting in better hook ups. Next, the buzzer is built on 0.35 wire which has a lot more vibration than the standard 0.51 used on other buzzbaits. More vibration means more bites!

These two features make the Baby Buzz bait a truly unique lure--but Lee wasn't done there. He added a very important bend in front of the buzzbait blade. The slant is called the "vegetation tamer" and this angle is what allows the lures blade to ride closer to the head of the lure. This gives the bait it’s tighter profile resulting in the most compact buzzer ever. That’s why this bait is known as the vegetation tamer. It comes through cover great!

Finally, the custom patented blade (which is cupped and pitched properly) allows less turning resistance while creating more disturbance. It also allows the buzzbait to be retrieved at lower speeds than traditional buzz baits--which sometimes is key to getting bit. The ultra sharp high-quality hook rides further back from the head and eliminates the need for a trailer hook. A unique metal is also used on the blade which allows this buzzer to squeak right out of the pack.

This finesse style ultra compact buzzbait is one that you have to have in your arsenal! It gets lots of bites (and big bites) on lakes, ponds and especially rivers. Here's a pro tip--remove the banded skirt which comes with the bait and replace it with one of my favorite buzzbait bodies...a Zoom Z-Craw Junior with a little dab of Super Glue to hold it in place...I've cashed some money on this set-up. Just don't tell your buddies!
